Solukhumbu district has launched its first-ever zipline service in Gauritap, Nechasalyan Rural Municipality. The new adventure spot is located near the border of Pattale, a popular tourist area sitting about 3,000 meters above sea level.

The local government built this project to attract more domestic and international tourists to the village. The goal is to create more jobs for local people and promote rural tourism in the region.

Five New Attractions for Tourists

According to the Rural Municipality Vice-Chair, Bina Rai, the government invested 8 million rupees (80 Lakhs) to create an entertainment hub. Apart from the zipline, the project includes four other activities:

  • Cycling trails
  • Swimming pool
  • Climbing walls
  • A scenic Viewpoint

Project Timeline and Launch

The construction was managed by Kalika Construction Service. The project began in July 2025 and was completed on time by March 2026. The 550-meter-long zipline was officially opened on April 13, 2026 (Baisakh 1, 2083), to celebrate the Nepali New Year.

On the opening day, over 100 people tested the zipline. The Rural Municipality Chair, Dhanjan Rai, officially inaugurated the service.

How the Income Will Be Shared

The local government plans to hire a professional company to manage the zipline daily. The money earned from the project will be shared as follows:

  • 70% will go to the Nechasalyan Rural Municipality.
  • 30% will go to the Bhedikhor Community Forest to help protect nature.

A Growing Tourist Hub

Gauritap and the neighboring Pattale area are famous for offering some of the best views of Mount Everest and other Himalayan peaks. Because of these stunning views and new adventure sports, the area is quickly becoming a major tourist "hub" in Eastern Nepal.
